Rental car operators increased to meet growing demand
Travellers will soon have the convenience of all the main rental car operators located at both the domestic and international terminals at Auckland Airport.
Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL) today announced it has awarded new licences for rental car operators at the airport. The new licences mean that five operators, instead of the previous four, will now have a presence at both the domestic and international terminals.
AIAL’s general manager retail, Nick Forbes, said “The increase in the number of rental car operators now on-airport will mean greater convenience, wider choice and more options for travellers. We are delighted with the selection – each is a highly regarded operator with superior service standards.”
The five-year licences granted to Hertz, Avis, Budget, Thrifty and Europcar will take effect from 1 July 2007 following healthy growth in the demand for rental car services at the airport.
“During the past 12 months AIAL has invested in improved rental car facilities at the domestic terminal. The rental car operators have relocated to new premises on the ground floor of the multi-level car park. The domestic terminal facilities mean travellers can walk under cover between the terminal, rental car outlets and rental car parking. Such enhancements have been well received by travellers and the rental car operators alike.”
In addition to outlets at both terminals, each rental car operator has dedicated parking spaces so customers can promptly and conveniently collect or return vehicles. Auckland Airport is also working on long term plans that will further improve rental car parking facilities at the international terminal.
