IPENZ President Tours Northern Most Branches

The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) President Jeff Jones continues his tour of IPENZ branches and arrives in Hamilton today.

In his presentation “IPENZ and the Professional Engineer” Dr Jones will discuss how engineers can bring national issues such as climate change and energy into the local arena.

“New Zealand is at cross road of choices”, says Dr Jones. “We must now make informed decisions about how we will contribute to the national effort to reduce our energy requirements and role model a carbon neutral society to the world. But to do that, we must make ourselves educated not only for our sakes but for the sakes of our children’s children”.

Dr Jones began his one year tenure as IPENZ President in March 2007. He recently retired after 17 years as Chief Executive of Environment BOP, the regional authority for the Bay of Plenty region, and now lives with his wife in Nelson.

IPENZ Waikato-Bay of Plenty branch hosts the President’s Tour tonight at the Museum Theatre, Grantham Street, Hamilton. The presentation will start at 6 pm.
