New distribution deal brings growth for Provenco

15 May 2007

New distribution deal brings growth for Provenco subsidiary Vantex
in Australia

Provenco Group (NZX:PVO) subsidiary Vantex Technology Distribution is increasing its brand portfolio in Australia after being awarded distributor rights by IBM.

Under the agreement, which took effect on May 1, Vantex the largest distributor of point-of-sale equipment in Asia Pacific is now distributing IBM retail hardware to Australian resellers.

The equipment includes IBM branded touch screen terminals, point-of-sale terminals, printers and kiosks.

Provenco chief executive, David Ritchie, says the partnership further strengthens Vantex’s leadership in the Australian market.

“Vantex is the most experienced supplier of point-of-sale equipment in Asia Pacific and IBM is the premier worldwide supplier of point-of-sale systems. The combination of Vantex’s networks and IBM’s leading edge products is a win-win for both the companies and customers alike,” says Mr Ritchie.

The agreement represents good expansion opportunities, especially with Vantex’s reach across Australia from its Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane bases. The new relationship allows IBM to connect with resellers not previously worked with, made possible through Vantex’s extensive networks.”

Managing director of Vantex Australia, Matt Maley, says Vantex has established a reputation for its leading brands and market expertise, and partnerships with companies like IBM reinforce this position with customers.

“IBM is the global leader in point-of-sale hardware technology and to promote that position needs highly effective distributors and distribution channels. Vantex can provide a successful formula to achieve this with our combined local knowledge, good networks and reliability.

“We are thrilled to now work with IBM and add its leading edge retail solutions to our Australian product portfolio,” says Mr Maley.
Mr Ritchie says this latest achievement for Vantex has again cemented its important position within the Provenco group and closely follows IBM’s appointment of Vantex New Zealand last year.
