Lotto Powerball Prizes Still To Be Claimed

Levin and Christchurch $7.5 Million Lotto Powerball Prizes Still To Be Claimed

Both the $7.5 million Lotto Powerball prizes, sold in Levin and Christchurch, remain unclaimed this evening, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

The tickets were purchased at Levin Mall Lotto in Levin and Unichem Bishopdale Pharmacy in Christchurch, and are worth a total of $7,575,893 each, with $7,288,657 from winning Powerball First Division and a further $287,236 from also winning Lotto First Division.

"Somewhere out there are two very lucky winners who are about to realise their dreams. I advise anyone who purchased a ticket at either of these two outlets to check it immediately," says Mr McLeay.

Mr McLeay's advise for the big winners is to write their name and details on the back of their tickets, confirming their ownership, and then get in touch with NZ Lotteries Wellington office on 04 802 7000.

This is the second time in the history of Powerball (outside of must-win weeks) that two people have shared a jackpot. The last time was back in December 2001.

"It may be that our winners are aware they have won, but are just letting it all sink in before they contact us, alternatively there could be two players out there completely unaware that they are walking around with $7.5 million in their back pockets," adds Mr McLeay.

The winners' prize of $7,575,893 each puts them in twelfth equal place in the Lotto Powerball 'largest amount won' record books.
