NZ Gardener wins Supreme Magazine of the Year

NZ Gardener magazine wins the Supreme Magazine of the Year at the 2007 Magazine Publishers Association Awards.

The Fairfax Magazines’ title also won Magazine of the Year - Special Interest category, Circulation & Promotion of the Year, whilst editor Lynda Hallinan won Supreme Editor of the Year. Judges recognised Lynda as an editor who has clearly stamped her mark on a mature title.

Lynda joined NZ Gardener as editor in May 2006, and with the editorial team has successfully reinvigorated the title, revisiting grassroots gardening and exploring significant new lifestyle trends – such as self-sustainability.

“New Zealand is a nation of passionate gardeners and we have tried to really tap into that passion. We’ve received fantastic feedback from our readers, and so it’s great to have industry recognition also,” says Lynda.

“Under Lynda’s leadership, the NZ Gardener team has developed a magazine that is appealing to more readers. This Supreme Award, coupled with increases in readership, proves the magazine is delivering what readers want,” says Lynley Belton, General Manager Fairfax Magazines.

Published since 1944, NZ Gardener is one of the oldest titles in New Zealand.

Fairfax Magazines scooped other key awards. The new NZ House & Garden won Website of the year. Cuisine writer David Burton took out Journalist of the Year – Home & Food and Cuisine designer William Chen won Designer of the Year – Home & Food.
