ACP Magazines Shine in Magazine Publishers’ Awards
ACP Magazines staff scooped three Supreme Awards at the annual Magazine Publishers’ Awards announced in Auckland tonight. In addition, Your Home & Garden magazine was named joint winner of the Launch/Re-launch of the Year Award.
North & South Editor Robyn Langwell was named Supreme Columnist of the Year and winner of the Current Affairs columnist category. The judges commented “Robyn delivers emotional pull, shows clear passion and skill, and makes her point while respecting her readers’ intelligence."
Writer Margot Butcher won the Supreme Journalist of the Year award for her contribution to North & South magazine. The judges said Butcher, who also won the Current Affairs category, carries the reader with her “vivid, opinionated, highly informative writing that makes complex subjects accessible”.
Metro magazine designer Jed Tallo won the Supreme Designer of the Year award and was winner of the Current Affairs category for an entry the judges said showed “clever use of illustration, wonderful detailing and solid typography”.
Monthly home title Your Home & Garden was named joint winner of the Launch/Relaunch of the Year Award for a May 2006 re-launch which saw the magazine repackaged with a new masthead, paper stock and design encompassing fresh editorial features.
Cleo magazine’s innovative Bachelor of the Year campaign was Highly Commended in the Circulation Promotion of the Year.
Founding Metro Editor and North & South writer Warwick Roger received a special Magazine Publishers’ Association Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the New Zealand magazine publishing industry spanning more than 25 years. Roger was the inaugural recipient of the award.
