Maori Fisheries Thanks Rob Mcleod

Maori Fisheries Thanks Rob Mcleod For Major Contribution

Director Rob McLeod (Ngati Porou) is to step down from Te Ohu Kaimoana following his appointment as Managing Partner, New Zealand of Ernst and Young.

The appointment requires Rob to resign from the boards of Te Ohu Kaimoana, Sealord Group Ltd and Aotearoa Fisheries Ltd.

“Rob’s legal background and tax expertise has enabled him to make a huge contribution to Maori fisheries,” Te Ohu Kaimoana Chief Executive Peter Douglas said today.

“He conceived and developed many aspects of the model by which we now allocate the Maori Fisheries Settlement and which provided the opportunity for iwi to move beyond the political impasses that had held back the settlement from them for many years.”

“Commercially, Rob was a member of the small team that invited Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd to enter into a joint venture with Maori to grow New Zealand’s largest seafood company Sealord Group Ltd in Nelson. Since then, he has been involved with every major commercial fisheries transaction that Te Ohu Kaimoana and AFL have made.”

“We cannot overstate the contribution he has made to Maori fisheries and iwi economic development. We wish Rob the very best for the future,” Mr Douglas said.
