$10 Million Up For Grabs with Lotto Powerball This Weekend

A lucky player could win up to $10 million on Lotto Powerball this weekend, NZ Lotteries Chief Executive Todd McLeay says.

"With Powerball worth an estimated $9 million, and Lotto First Division worth $1 million, if a lucky player is the sole winner of Lotto and Powerball First Division they could potentially pick up a Lotto Powerball prize worth a gigantic $10 million.

"A win that would rank sixth in the list of top individual wins on Lotto Powerball," says Mr McLeay.

Even if more than one person wins Lotto First Division, an individual Lotto Powerball win this week, would rank in Lotto Powerball's 10 largest wins.

"It is a really exciting time in the Powerball jackpot cycle, as we hit the potential for someone to win an eight figure sum," says Mr McLeay.

Lotto Powerball has been struck twice in 2007, with a Wanganui family taking home a prize of $7.3 million (the 12th largest Lotto Powerball win to date) in early February, followed two weeks later by an Auckland couple winning $1.96 million.

"Powerball can be an unpredictable game, but the one thing I can predict is a life-changing experience for anyone who matches their numbers correctly on Saturday night.

"Around a year ago an Auckland couple who purchased their ticket at Kaeo Four Square, took home the largest individual Lotto Powerball prize in the history of NZ Lotteries, close to $18 million. So it will be interesting to see if we get another big Autumn Powerball winner this weekend," adds Mr McLeay.
