Wednesday April 11, 2007

TV3’s Presenting Line-Up Confirmed For
Rugby World Cup 2007 Coverage

Mike McRoberts and Shaun Summerfield are to host TV3’s live and exclusive IRB Rugby World Cup 2007 coverage. As one of the biggest events of TV3’s programming calendar this year, the 3 News presenting team rounds out the broadcasting line-up for the tournament, with the commentary team consisting of 3 News’ Sports presenter, Hamish McKay and All Black greats Alan Whetton and Grant Fox, who will cover every All Black game.

McRoberts will anchor the first three days of play from France, including the New Zealand vs. Italy game, before returning to Paris for the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and the Final. Summerfield will present coverage of the pool phase of the tournament, including New Zealand’s games against Portugal, Romania and Scotland.

Hyundai Sports Tonight host, Howard Dobson, will anchor a nightly 30-minute broadcast from France from 11pm each evening, which will begin the night’s coverage of all of the tournament’s 48 games.

Rick Friesen, TV3’s Chief Operating Officer says Mike McRoberts, Shaun Summerfield and Howard Dobson will bring a wealth of Rugby knowledge to the coverage.

“Their fresh, enthusiastic yet knowledgeable attitude toward the event will bring New Zealanders the best possible coverage,” he says.

The IRB Rugby World Cup 2007 will screen LIVE and EXCLUSIVE only on TV3 from 7 September to
21 October, 2007.
