Hotel Expanding to 189
Rooms by November 2007
Oakridge Resort Grand Mercure, Wanaka, was recently awarded a rating of 4.5 stars by Qualmark, New Zealand tourism's independent and official mark of quality, raised from its previous rating of 4 stars.
Oakridge has recently become a member of the Accor Hotel Group, which is the world's largest hotel and tourism group, with more than 4,000 hotels and resorts in nearly 100 countries.
Set in the heart of the Southern Lakes district and just 45 minutes from Queenstown, the property includes a variety of luxury rooms and self contained apartments. Features on offer include health treatments, conference facilities, outdoor heated rock pools and a stylish, award winning restaurant.
The addition of 112 new rooms and apartments will bring the total number of rooms to 189. The new wing is scheduled to open its doors by the first week of November 2007, with a formal launch due closer to this time.
General Manager Anil Sood says that with the addition of the new wing, not only will Wanaka receive the boost of having a premium hotel, but it will also be the biggest in the area.
