InterCity boosts services across New Zealand over the Easter period
InterCity has added more than 2,000 additional seats to its services across New Zealand today, to cater for heavy
customer demand over the Easter period.
This increase in capacity equates 40 additional coaches on the road, including InterCity’s four new mega coaches. The
two-level mega coaches are 13.5 metres long and each carry 65 passengers. The coaches carry 30 per cent more passengers
and use 15 per cent less fuel than regular coaches.
InterCity is New Zealand’s only long distance public transport provider catering for Kiwi communities.
Sales and Marketing Manager for InterCity Group Limited, Daniel Rode, said InterCity is responding to demand from both
domestic travellers and international tourists who are either heading away on holiday, or returning home to be with
family and friends during the Easter period.
“This is the second busiest time of the year after the Christmas and New Year period.
“Holiday periods are notoriously bad for traffic and therefore people are choosing efficient and well-organised public
transport as a means of getting around the place.
“We want to ensure passengers arrive feeling relaxed and ready to celebrate the Easter break with friends and family,”
he said.
InterCity will also be spreading “Easter Cheer” at the main Auckland bus terminal at Sky City this coming Thursday and
Friday, with a visit from the Easter Bunny delivering easter treats.
The additional services will be operating across all the major centres nationwide.
InterCity Group is 100 per cent Kiwi owned and operated. The company has invested more than $16.5 million dollars during
the past three years to enhance and maintain its national transport infrastructure, which connects more than 600 towns,
