AMP Doubles Scholarship Programme To $1million!
AMP Financial Services New Zealand has raised the stakes with its 2007 AMP Scholarship Programme - doubling the funds committed over the next five years to $1million, in order to help more talented New Zealanders turn their dreams into reality.
“The AMP Scholarship Programme has a unique history of providing support to talented individuals on the road to success,” says Managing Director of AMP Financial Services New Zealand, Greg Camm. “We’re proud to not only continue this tradition but take it a step further by doubling the funds from $500,000 to $1million over the next five years. We’ve been so inspired by these individuals that we want to double the impact.”
“The AMP Scholarship Programme is a unique scheme where ordinary Kiwis are recognised for achieving extraordinary things. It’s about helping these talented individuals to take the first step.”
2007 will see AMP award 12 Scholarships valued at up to $10,000 each, and there is a further fund of $80,000 that will be shared amongst those who are selected for 2007 AMP Premium Scholarships. The AMP Premium Scholarship winners are selected from the 12 general AMP Scholarship winners.
The AMP Scholarship Programme is a unique scheme in that there is no limit on applicants’ activities or age. It is open to Kiwis of all ages and backgrounds who can demonstrate the ability and attitude to succeed in their chosen field. The only criteria is that applicants must be either permanent residents or NZ citizens.
Filmmaker and 2006 AMP Scholarship winner Qiujing Wong sees this broad criteria as refreshing, and says, “New Zealand has a tremendous pool of talent that is somewhat untapped. I love that AMP defines our dreams as limitless in genre, age, sex and scope”.
Established in 1998, the AMP Scholarship Programme has given out over 60 AMP Scholarships to inspirational Kiwis. The aim is to reward those with courage, passion, determination and commitment, who aspire to ‘live life to the full’ and achieve their dream no matter what.
Previous recipients have ranged from filmmakers and artists to scientists, sports champions, and engineers - plus almost everything in between.
In 2006, the company established two new scholarships for AMP employees and Advisers, and their immediate families, to recognise the talent that was evident within AMP’s own team.
Applications are now being accepted online for the 2007 AMP Scholarship Programme at www.amp.co.nz, and will close 30 June 2007. All AMP Scholarship winners will be announced in late August 2007.
Any AMP Scholarship Programme queries can be emailed to ampscholarships@amp.co.nz and full details about the Programme are available on the AMP New Zealand website www.amp.co.nz.
