Passenger Volumes On The Up
· International passenger volumes continued to grow in January 2007, up 2.3% over the same month in the previous year.
· International departures increased
3.4%, while arrivals were up 1.3%.
· There
was solid growth in New Zealand arrivals, up
4.8%.
· Visitors from the UK were also up
5.1%.
· This was offset by small declines in
arrivals from Australia (down 0.8%) and the USA (down
0.1%).
· There was continued strong growth
from some of the emerging markets, in particular China up
12.9%.
· This was offset by a decline in
Japanese arrivals of 18.9%.
· For the
financial year to date, total international passengers
(excluding transits and transfers) are up 1.0% over the same
period last year.
· Domestic passengers were
up 2.2% in January 2007.
· International
aircraft movements and domestic aircraft movements decreased
by 1.4% and 4.4%, respectively.
· The
decline in domestic aircraft movements was primarily due to
the cessation of services by Origin
Pacific.
