Media Release: Australian study confirms the value of ISO 9000
8 March 2007
A research study conducted by Monash University's Australian Supply Chain Management Research Unit, with support from JAS-ANZ, confirms that the ISO 9000 quality management system continues to have a positive impact on the performance of Australian organisations.
The areas where the management system had the most impact were product performance, on time delivery, and brand image. Companies also reported it to have a positive impact on market share, sales, price competitiveness, cost effectiveness, and product innovation.
Tony Craven, CEO of JAS-ANZ comments; "ISO 9000 is an internationally recognised approach to managing business improvement. It has been around now for over 16 years and continues to prove its worth. In general implementation does require a change in approach for organisations, and implementing and operating it does involve resources, however this study confirms the benefits many Australian companies receive from the system."
There are over 35,000 organisations with JAS-ANZ accredited certificates for ISO 9001 in Australia, New Zealand, and internationally.
