Jenny Shipley Appointed to Chair new Board as Sentinel continues its international expansion
Former Prime Minister of New Zealand the Right Honourable Jenny Shipley has been appointed to chair the Board of Seniors Money International Limited, Sentinel’s new international holding company.
Sentinel is a New Zealand-founded home equity release specialist, established three years ago. Set up by a group of experienced New Zealand-based business people, including Sovereign founders Chris Coon and Ian Hendry, Sentinel has also established its lifetime loan product in Australia, Ireland, Spain and South Africa. The company is planning to continue this expansion with launches into two more countries this year and has established Seniors Money International Limited, headquartered in New Zealand, to oversee its expanding international operations.
Since leaving politics, the Rt Hon Jenny Shipley travels extensively in multiple roles as a director, adviser, consultant and keynote speaker with special interest in Asian economies. Her commercial directorships include Richina Pacific, Mainzeal Construction in New Zealand (Chair) and Momentum (HR company). She is on the international economic advisory Board of the City of Rotterdam and chairs the advisory board of her son, Ben’s Shanghai based branding and marketing company.
“ I think there is a tremendous need worldwide for home equity release and this is set to grow dramatically as the world’s population ages. Sentinel has considerable expertise in this field and is developing an international reputation for its products.” says Mrs Shipley. “Already it has a track record as a highly successful organisation. It is great to see a New Zealand company develop a world class product in its home market and successfully take it overseas.”
Richard Coon, a founding shareholder and director of Sentinel and former managing director of the company in New Zealand, will take over the reins as managing director of Seniors Money International Limited.
