Last Chance to Enter to Become New Zealand’s Greatest All Round Tradie
To date, over eighty New Zealanders reckon they’ve got what it takes to win the Mitre 10 Mega Jack of All Trades title as the Country’s best all-round tradie with the closing date for registrations drawing near on Tuesday 20th February.
The Mitre 10 Mega Jack of All Trades competition provides a platform for tradies to showcase their varied skills and ability to turn their hand to anything, from a paint brush to a nail gun. The competition will be screened on TV One in June where the nation will follow the sixteen successful entrants in the regional heats with the top eight battling it out in the final in Auckland, vying for the $100,000 prize pool and the sought after title.
“If you are up to the challenge of a fast paced sports arena style battle to prove who really is New Zealand’s best all-round tradie, this is your moment to shine and there is still time to get your registration in before the 20th February”, prompted competition organiser Damien Bray.
“We are keen to see who has the ability to win this demanding competition, and at a time when people are always complaining how hard it is to find a good tradesperson, this is the chance to show the public how talented these Tradies really are,
“We’re really impressed with the high calibre of entries we’ve received to date, from a wide range of industries encompassing a lot of very skilled and multi talented people. We’ve had our first woman competitor enter and we are hoping for more, as they’ll keep the blokes on their toes,” said Bray.
The Competition encompasses all facets of a Tradies job; from carpentry to brick laying, painting to plumbing - even ute handling and excavation equipment skills will be tested.
Tradies will race each other and the clock to determine who has the best all round trade skills. Competitors will be tested on their physical ability on the tools, workmanship, safety and organizational efficiency.
As well as the cash prize the winner also receives a customised ute, the ultimate tool kit and work wear.
The Showdown will begin with two heats – the first in Wellington on 18th March, and the second in Christchurch on 25th March. Only four tradies from each Island will go on to compete in the finals in Auckland on 1st April.
All the sports-style tradie action and its hardware stars will then hit the screen, with the Mitre 10 Mega Jack of All Trades competition being broadcast by TVNZ in June 2007.
