$4.6 Million Bonus for Latest Big Wednesday Winner
A trip to visit a relative and the claiming of a Big Wednesday bonus ticket, resulted in a $4.6 million payout for a North Island family, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive Todd McLeay.
The family who purchased their ticket at United South City (also known as United Video & Lotto, Glenview) in Hamilton have won $2.4 million cash plus an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, an Audi Q7, a $250,000 American Express Platinum Card, $250,000 worth of luxury travel, a Rayglass Legend 2500 Boat, a $500,000 holiday home and a $750,000 luxury apartment.
The family are the first to scoop the full line-up of Big Wednesday's exciting new set of prizes, and have won themselves cash and prizes totalling $4,689,122.
"Right now we are absolutely elated, but very tired. The win hasn't quite sunk in yet," says one of the winners, who hasn't had too much sleep since they checked their winning ticket and saw the six numbers and the coin toss all line up.
The family had been in Hamilton visiting relatives when they passed a Lotto outlet and decided to cash-in the free ticket that had won on the previous Big Wednesday draw*.
The previous biggest NZ Lotteries win for the family, who are regular players, was $14,000. Wednesday's win sees them take home 330 times as much cash as their second biggest win.
Big Wednesday's new line-up was launched in December 2006, and was last won in its first week by a lucky winner from Taradale who took home $2 million, plus the two new luxury cars.
