Sealegs Signs Up To Tread Lightly!

Auckland, 25 January 2007: Sealegs International has become the latest corporate member and the first New Zealand company to partner with Tread Lightly!

Based in Utah, Tread Lightly! is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote ethics for motorised recreation in the environment.

It was established in 1985 by the US Forest Service which was concerned about the impact on the great outdoors by recreational users. Its partners include the US Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service and the Army Corp of Engineers. Among its corporate partners are Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Land Rover, Polaris (snowmobiles) and Sealegs.

As the world’s leading manufacturer of amphibious boats, Sealegs promotes responsible and courteous use of its craft around the world.

Sealegs CEO David McKee Wright says “the values of Tread Lightly! mirror our own regarding the use of recreational products in the environment. We have made a considerable investment in developing amphibious boats which have 300% less impact on the environment than similar sized boats launched on beaches from trailers.”

Last week Sealegs International confirmed a sale of six amphibious boats to the Italian Fire Department with a value of approximately $500,000.
