New Zealand’s Three Main Centres Get Free Regional Calls

TelstraClear has smashed toll boundaries for households, turning the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch phone book into a ‘Big Back Yard’ for regional phone calls.

The ‘Big Back Yard’ offer covers homes in the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch phone book area.

TelstraClear Head of Consumer Steve Jackson says many households can now say goodbye to toll bills when calling within their phone book area.

“For years people in and around Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch have been told that it isn’t possible to remove toll boundaries. We’ve risen to the challenge and introduced a service that gives households a big back yard when it comes to regional calls,” says Mr Jackson.

“The old rules no longer apply. By signing up to TelstraClear and Big Back Yard people can stop listening to excuses from other companies and spend more time talking to friends and family anywhere in their phone book area,” he says.

Mr Jackson says ‘Big Back Yard’ is the first of a number of new services TelstraClear has planned this year.

“We are about to get the chance to deliver more to customers throughout New Zealand, so what better way to start than by making life easier for households in and around New Zealand’s three main regions.”

TelstraClear’s ‘Big Back Yard’ offer is available to residential customers in the areas covered by the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch White Pages™ 2006/07 phone books. All new and existing customers will need to sign up to TelstraClear’s Big Back Yard by calling 0508 010 229 or going online to www.telstraclear.co.nz/go/bigbackyard

As part of the Big Back Yard offer, customers will be committing to TelstraClear’s Residential InHome or HomePlan phoneline and calling offering for a minimum of 12 months.

Subs - phone book areas include:
• Auckland - includes Auckland, Pukekohe, Hibiscus Coast, Helensville, Warkworth and Great Barrier local calling areas.
• Wellington - includes Wellington and the Kapiti Coast
• Christchurch - includes Christchurch, Ashburton, Darfield, Rangiora, Culverden/Waiau/Hanmer Springs, Akaroa, Amberley, Cheviot and Kaikoura. It excludes calls to and from the Chatham Islands.
