Ford New Zealand Warns Public About Fake Lottery Letter
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 19 January 2007
Ford Motor Company is warning the public about a fake lottery letter called the 'Ford Annual Promotion' which advises recipients that they have won a 'lump sum payment of 315,810.00.'
"We are aware of a number of similar lottery letters that are currently in circulation in New Zealand which illegally use the logos of Ford and other companies," said Clare Ponton, Media Relations Manager of Ford New Zealand.
'We recommend that people do not respond to this letter - it is not our policy or practice to ask members of the public to provide personal details such as bank account numbers," said Ms. Ponton.
The letter purports to be from Don. Juan Palma Gonzalez and appears to originate in Spain.
'If the public has any concerns about the authenticity of any Ford promotions, they can obtain further information from the Ford New Zealand website www.ford.co.nz or by calling (09) 277 8400," said Ms. Ponton.
