Meat & Wool New Zealand Elections To Be Held

Elections will be held in the Central South Island and Western North Island electoral districts of Meat & Wool New Zealand. Nominations for two electoral districts closed Wednesday 10 January at 5pm. As a result of this, both positions on the Board will be contested in the 1st March 2007 election. Jeremy Austin and David Douglas are seeking re-election to the Board.

Directors elected to Meat & Wool New Zealand Limited are also appointed as Directors of the New Zealand Meat Board.

Western North Island (One Required)

Two nominations were received in the Western North Island electoral district, therefore livestock farmers have the opportunity to vote for their Representative Director in 2007. The candidates are:

AUSTIN Jeremy Wanganui 06 342 7752
FREW Ron Ohakune 06 385 8375

Central South Island (One Required)

Two nominations were received in the Central South Island electoral district, therefore livestock farmers have the opportunity to vote for their Representative Director in 2007. The candidates are:

AITKEN Marianne Ashburton 03 307 2268
DOUGLAS David Oamaru 03 431 2585

The election for the two electoral districts will be conducted by postal and internet ballot, with voting papers, and further information about the candidates, to be sent to registered electors on Thursday 8 February 2007.

Election Day is Thursday 1 March 2007 and only registered electors can vote. The results will be announced at the annual general meeting in Wanaka on 8 March 2006.

Voter registration forms could be obtained by calling the Election Hotline, and must be returned by 5pm on Wednesday 31 January 2007. Any queries are to be directed to the Returning Officer on the Election Hotline 0508 666 336.
