White(ware) Christmas For Marton Winner

White(ware) Christmas For Marton Instant Kiwi Winner

Christmas has just got a whole lot merrier for one Marton woman who has won $50,000 on an Instant Kiwi ticket, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

The winner, who is in her sixties and wishes to remain anonymous, won the $50,000 top prize on a $3 Christmas Crossword earlier this week.

The lucky woman, a grandmother, is somewhat speechless after her well-timed win but says she is "very excited."

The winning woman plans to spend her Christmas celebrating her win with family.

"We're just sitting tight at the moment and sussing out a few things. I do think we'll look into replacing all of our old whiteware though," she says.

"It's nice to do things we wouldn't otherwise have been able to do at our age," she said.

The woman purchased her lucky Christmas ticket at Hayman's Paper Plus in Marton where staff where very happy to see her win.

Store owner, Gary Hayman, said the woman was "pretty certain she'd won when she came in-store but couldn't be sure until she had it checked through the terminal."

"We had to look at the [prize] receipt twice - but then the penny dropped," said Mr Hayman.

Earlier in the year, Hayman's Paper Plus sold a winning $100,000 Instant Kiwi ticket.

"We like to think we're pretty lucky for little old Marton," said Mr Hayman.
