New Magazine a Helping Hand for Kiwi Exporters
New Zealand exporters have today been given a helping hand with the launch of a new magazine dedicated to the business of exporting – Exporter Magazine.
Exporter will become the only news-stand quality magazine specifically targeting the New Zealand export community, and is published by New Zealand Trade Centre founders Michael Taillie and Travis Field.
Since its establishment in 1993, the New Zealand Trade Centre has been providing qualified export leads to New Zealand exporters.
No strangers to publishing, the duo also publish New Zealand’s most widely distributed tourism Magazine ‘Arrival’.
Michael Taillie said the concept for Exporter was born from his and Field’s aspiration to highlight the challenges and barriers faced by New Zealand exporters, and give them the tools and advice necessary to help their businesses succeed.
“Our exporters are key to the future success of New Zealand’s economy,” Michael said.
“With New Zealand businesses exporting more than $NZ29.5 billion worth of goods to more than 265 countries/regions each year, the importance of the export market cannot be ignored.”
Michael said despite the current and potential value of our export market the New Zealand government is currently doing little to assist our exporters.
“Despite this many of our exporters have gone out and braved the global markets with a mixture of successes and failures, regardless of the limitations of being based in New Zealand.”
“With Exporter we aim to give these businesses the information and advice they need to help them to become successful in off-shore markets.”
Experienced business and financial journalist Yoke Har Lee is guest-editor for the magazine, which will be mailed quarterly to more than 4,000 business executives in or supporting the export business.
“Yoke Har has spent more than 20 years working in global and regional media organisations including the Singapore Business Times, Reuters and a three year stint at the NZ Herald’s Business Herald.
“Her vast experience in both New Zealand and international markets makes her well-qualified to front our editorial team,” Michael explained.
Michael said guest columnists and feature writers from both New Zealand and overseas will supplement the work of the editorial team, and in-depth tips and commentaries from successful exporters will be included in each edition.
“The can-do attitude and initiative of New Zealand exporters means that with the right support, they have the potential to really get ahead in overseas markets,” Michael said.
“Exporter is set to showcase the success of some of our established exporters and help others along the path to international success.”
