Unisys Ramps Up For 2007

News Release

Unisys Ramps Up for Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007 and Exchange Server 2007

Unisys will be focusing on developing large-organisation consulting and delivery services around Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 in the Asia-Pacific region working with its existing customer base.

The two companies maintain a strategic alliance at the highest levels, with Microsoft services being one of five priority service lines for Unisys. That alliance sees joint product development, service delivery investment by Unisys, and the maintenance and deployment of Microsoft consulting expertise in specialist vertical market sectors such as education.

“In our region, Unisys is making a focused commitment to the new Microsoft Vista, and the new versions of Office and Exchange Server,” said Brett Hodgson, managing director Unisys New Zealand. “We see the most potential for our business in large organisations which, through the latter half of 2007, will assess the benefits on offer with these new Microsoft solutions.

“Unisys will help these organisations make decisions that will ensure the continued security of their IT operations. They will want to migrate with confidence. They will want to take advantage of the new features in Vista – features such as collaborative communications and improved data access. We will work with them to provide an objective blueprint, and make that migration successful.”

Unisys is already providing early migration support with selected clients in Australia. These early engagements will provide the foundation for new services now planned for later in 2007. They will focus on the new in-built protective technologies within Vista, such as the improved anti-spam and anti-virus features, and will develop configuration services for these to run either inside customers’ firewall or on the internet.

Unisys is also migrating its own applications to Vista.

Microsoft Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Exchange Server 2007 will be available for businesses on November 30. General availability will follow in January 2007.
