‘Tree Of Hope’ For Those In Need At Christmas
Sofitel Queenstown is asking Queenstown businesses and individuals to dig deep and support a ‘Tree of Hope’ for those in
need this Christmas.
From Friday December 1 a large tree in the hotel foyer next to the fountain has been decorated with special ‘Hope’
decorations containing the wishes of needy children, families, and single people who are far away from their families
and alone at Christmas.
The hotel is asking people to select a ‘Hope’ decoration then buy a gift for the person within, who is identified only
by age and sex.
“The Salvation Army tells us there are a surprising number of people in Queenstown at Christmas time who are in need of
some support,” said Sofitel Queenstown General Manager Mark Wilkinson.
“We thought this was one way we could help out and Sofitel Queenstown will be getting the ball rolling by providing the
first gifts.
“We would love to think that other businesses or caring individuals could do the same, and it doesn’t have to be an
overly expensive gift. It is, after all, the thought that counts.”
All gifts will need to be wrapped and under the Sofitel ‘Tree of Hope’ by December 20, when they will be collected by
the Salvation Army and distributed before Christmas.
Sofitel Queenstown will be happy to wrap gifts free of charge if they are brought to the hotel reception.
