Duffy & Finn’s Arrives In The Auckland Region

New Zealand’s largest range of wine, beer and spirits goes on sale tomorrow (30th November 2006), with the opening of Duffy & Finn’s in Pukekohe, the first of Foodstuffs (Auckland)’s large format liquor stores.

The 800 square metre, $1 million store on Edinburgh Street in Pukekohe is the second Duffy & Finn’s to open in New Zealand, with the first, a smaller store, opened by Foodstuffs (Wellington) in Porirua in August.

“It’s great to be able to bring the brand here – it is a fantastic offering with an unprecedented range of beer, wine and spirits. People who’ve had a chance to see the store before opening have been amazed at the extent of the range,” says Tony Carter, Foodstuffs (Auckland) managing director.

“This is the first store, which we will be treating as a pilot. Once we are confident we have it exactly right, we’ll be commencing an aggressive rollout plan across the Auckland region,” he says.

Duffy & Finn’s stores, like all Foodstuffs’ PAK’nSAVE, New World and Four Square stores, are 100% locally owned and operated.

Owner of Duffy & Finn’s Pukekohe, Grant Prince says he’s already had an enthusiastic reaction from the local community.

“People have been really impressed at the sheer scale of the operation. We’re catering for everyone from wine and whisky enthusiasts through to those just wanting the best deal on a dozen of beer. I guarantee our prices in all categories simply won’t be beaten – we’ll match any other locally advertised price,” he says.

The store employs 12 staff, and trading hours are 9am-8pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 10pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 7pm on Sunday.
