Metservice Appoints New Chief Executive

Dr Francis Small today announced the appointment of Paul Reid as the new Chief Executive of MetService.

"Paul comes to MetService with extensive leadership experience, developed in three of New Zealand's largest companies, New Zealand Post, Carter Holt Harvey and Air New Zealand," said Francis Small.

Paul has demonstrable leadership qualities, commercial expertise and a clear passion for the complex technology on which our business is based.

He has a core science background having completed a BSc Hons in Operations Research. He has then applied these technical skills to a range of commercial settings. These attributes will allow Paul to grasp, then foster the heart of MetService's business - the forecasting and modelling that keep our 24/7 operations running.

"Paul is also well equipped to manage the commercial side of MetService's business. His experience in operating in international markets and running a world-wide sales team, as General Manager Cargo at Air New Zealand, will be a valuable asset, as we continue to grow the successful international arm of our business," Dr Small said.

"I am excited to be given the opportunity to lead an organisation that touches on the lives of New Zealanders every day. MetService is an exciting company that is taking great New Zealand ideas to the world stage and I look forward to leading it through its next stage of growth," said Paul Reid.

In welcoming Paul Reid to the role, Francis Small also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Chief Executive for his service over the last 14 years.

"We are proud of the contribution our retiring Chief Executive, John Lumsden has made to MetService. We are confident that Paul, in turn, will make a tremendous contribution to the organisation," said Dr Small.

Paul is currently living in Auckland and will relocate to Wellington when he takes up the role in mid February 2007.
