Zeacom wins AmCham Supreme Award Leading developer provides customer care, call centre technology in 21 countries
Auckland, New Zealand (November 8 2006) – The supreme winner of the 2006 American Chamber of Commerce-UPS Business
Awards, Auckland based Zeacom, might well regard the knife-edge finish of the Mid-Term Elections in the United States as
its next business opportunity there.
Zeacom is an international leader in assisting organisations to improve the way customer contacts are made and
maintained – and, according to US political commentators, it was the Republican machine, with its superior ability to
contact party faithful and get them to the polls, that made for the nerve-wracking result of the elections.
Established in 1994, Zeacom has offices in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, serving over 1,800
customers in 21 countries.
The 2006 American Chamber of Commerce-UPS Business Innovation and Success Awards were announced this evening at a gala
dinner in Auckland attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Right Honourable Winston Peters, and the US
Ambassador to New Zealand, William McCormick.
The seventh annual awards celebrate business innovation and success in the import, export, investment and tourism
sectors between New Zealand and the US, our second largest trading partner.
The Supreme winner of the awards is chosen from the three key category winners. Zeacom, which also won the Exporter of
the Year – Services & Technology Award, fended off strong competition from New Zealand Steel, winner of the Exporter of the Year – Goods
Award and Importer of the Year, James Crisp Ltd.
“As in previous years, the judges had difficult job determining the supreme winner because of the exceptional calibre of
contenders,” said AmCham’s New Zealand Executive Director, Mike Hearn.
“However, they judged that Zeacom had the edge with a winning combination of market leadership, customer focus and
proprietary software.”
AmCham also presented awards to General Electric as Investor of the Year from the US for its investment in Pacific
Retail Finance, Superbank’s mortgage business and the Custom Fleet motor vehicle leasing business, and to New
Zealand-owned, San Diego-based travel company, Active Downunder, for Contribution to Tourism.
The Trevor Eagle Memorial Award for AmCham Member of the Year was presented to Nigel Metge, Commercialisation Manager
for Engineering, IT and Science for Auckland Uniservices.
In addition to AmCham, UPS and Air New Zealand, the American Chamber of Commerce Awards are supported by Baldwins,
CitiGroup, Ernst and Young Ltd, GE Money, New Zealand Steel, and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
Prizes include airfares to Los Angeles or San Francisco flying Air New Zealand for the importer and exporter category
winners.
Previous winners of the Supreme Award include Orion Systems International, Zespri International, Peace Software, Airways
Corporation, HumanWare (Pulse Data) and Tenon.
