Youth Skills NZ Celebrates 20 Years With Anniversary Awards Banquet at the Waipuna Hotel & Conference Centre
Youth Skills NZ (SkillEX) is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary with a banquet evening for all their sponsors and
volunteers to give thanks and recognition to all those that have given their time and support to the charitable trust
which is dedicated to motivating and rewarding young people through workplace ‘SkillEX’ competitions.
The evening is sponsored by Fisher & Paykel and Nautech Electronics Ltd, awards will be presented to our long serving volunteers and to BOC, Carter Holt
Harvey and NZ Steel as long serving sponsors.
Sue Dale, general manager, BOC New Zealand says “SkillEX provides an important platform to highlight the skills of our
young people, so it receives our wholehearted support”
Plaques will be awarded to various training providers such as AUT, Wintec, UNITEC, MIT, Weltec and the NZ Defence Force
in recognition of their support and involvement in the SkillEX competitions. Weltec recently hosted the SkillEX National
Finals 2006 which was only the second time in the history of the competition that it was held outside of Auckland. This
year’s national finals were an outstanding success and the team to travel to Japan next year to represent New Zealand in
the Worldskills finals will be announced very shortly.
Michele A’Court is the guest speaker and Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Michele has several years’ experience of
performing at corporate functions as a host and entertainer. Michele presented the NZ Tourism Awards in 1998 and 1999
where her “professionalism, expertise and wit” as MC were acknowledged as “major factors in the success” of the events.
“We want to give our sponsors and volunteers the entertaining evening they all deserve and we are confident Michele will
have us all laughing our hearts out” explains Sally Tai-Rakena, Marketing & Communications Manager, Youth Skills NZ(SkillEX) and the organizer of the event.
