Regulatory Responsibility Bill public meetings
The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accounts has organiseda series of public meetings on the Regulatory Responsibility Bill.
Since mid-2005 the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants has been promoting debate on a regulatory responsibility act. The Institute believes that an act to improve our machinery of government has significant potential to deliver benefits across all sectors.
Representatives from ACT, Labour, United Future, National and the Greens have agreed to take part in a panel discussion on the bill. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask specific questions of the panelists.
Meetings are open to the public and include representatives from some of New Zealand’s largest commercial and representative organisations, academics, the legal and accountancy professions and the public sector.
Improving the quality of the regulatory process is about much more than reducing costs. Improved processes will ensure that the decision-making process is transparent, objectives clearly defined and the consequences for the public are clear.
