Gore man named Young Chartered Accountant of the Year

Brendon Harrex of Gore has been named New Zealand's Young Chartered Accountant of the Year for 2006. The Award was presented at the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants' Gala Dinner held in Wellington last Thursday.

The Institute presents the Young Chartered Accountant of the Year Award each year to celebrate the profession's rising stars and recognise exceptional individual achievement.

A Director of Gore practice Ward Wilson Limited, Brendon is passionate about developing more innovative and creative ways of doing business as a public practice.

"Brendon was a standout candidate," said Chief Judge Bronwyn Monopoli.

"His commitment to his business and his customers has been endorsed by his more experienced peers, who have appointed him as practice chair.

Brendon's strengths in the business advisory, development and succession services have contributed significantly to the growth in revenue of Ward Wilson in recent years."

The other winners announced on the night were Zoe Chrystall of Palmerston North, who took honours as Accounting Technician of the Year, and Joanna Perry of Auckland who received the surprise award of the evening. Joanna, who is chair of the Financial Reporting Standards Board, received the Institute's Valued Contribution to the Profession Award.
