Savvy Newcomer Dancing Water Takes Gold
New wine producer, Dancing Water, has been awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Liquorland International Top 100 Wine
Show for their distinctive Single Vineyard Awatere Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Dancing Water is the creation of Ross Trowsdale and partner Clare Bisso. Ross has worked in both the New and Old World
for a number of top quality wine producers; New Zealand, (Pegasus Bay and Felton Road), Australia (Wyndham Estate), the
USA (Cristom Vineyards) and Austria (Weingut Stefanshof and Alois Kracher).
The couple decided to start making wine and have produced their debut wine, a 2006 Sauvignon Blanc from a single
vineyard within the Awatere Valley Marlborough. The grapes were grown under optimal quality, low cropping conditions,
picked with good ripe flavours and in perfect condition.
The resulting wine is distinctive, with freshly chopped green capsicum and passionfruit on the nose, on the palate a
fresh mouth watering acidity and a firm structure combines with rich tropical and citrus fruit flavours with underlying
hints of mineral and capsicum as detected on the nose.
Availability of this wine is limited. Quantities have been set aside for mailing list members and it is available in
selected fine wine stores including the The Cellar at Ballantynes and Vino Fino in Christchurch and Liquorland stores
nationally.
Both Le Bon Bolli elegant fine dining restaurant in Christchurch and Eichardt's Private Hotel in Queenstown have
selected the Dancing Water Sauvignon Blanc 2006 for their summer wine lists. Owners Ross and Clare are extremely pleased
with the quality of their debut wine and its immediate popularity with customers and wine judges alike.
It is planned that Dancing Water will expand to several other wine varietals and will market these wines throughout New
Zealand. Ross has a very specific plan for Dancing Water. “We will make a group of distinctive wines by selecting
varietals grown from outstanding New Zealand "terroir" ”. Of highest importance is the quality and integrity of the
fruit "ensuring the highest quality fruit allows us to make very high quality wines that showcase New Zealand wine
regions and their uniqueness in the world”.
Dancing Water also manages a vineyard on Banks Peninsula and has recently acquired land in the Waipara Valley for future
development.
