Ford Tops Passenger Market Again in September
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 5 October 2006
Ford has finished the third quarter as the most popular passenger vehicle brand with the ever-popular BF Falcon leading the charge.
"September was a strong month for the Ford in the showrooms and on the racetrack," said Kay Hart, National Sales Manager for Ford New Zealand.
"502 Falcons found new homes in September in New Zealand and across the Tasman, Ford Performance Racing drivers Jason Bright and Mark Winterbottom won the prestigious Sandown 500 V8 Supercar endurance race in Melbourne.
"The European-built Focus was once again a top performer for Ford in September – with 355 sales, it was second in its segment and fourth overall in the passenger market."
Ford finished September with 16.87% of the passenger vehicle segment, or 1252 units – this was the passenger segment's highest monthly volume year-to-date.
"Overall, the third quarter was a successful one for Ford – we led the market in passenger vehicles and Falcon was the most popular vehicle in the country with 1526 sales.
"Kiwis continue to appreciate the large car capabilities of Falcon while benefiting from its excellent fuel economy, driving dynamics and overall performance," she concluded.
The success of the third quarter means Ford currently sits in second place in new vehicle sales and is only 24 units from the number one position in the passenger segment year-to-date while sales of Ford light commercial sales remained steady.
