Corstorphine House ranks among top leading luxury hotels in the country

Corstorphine House in Dunedin has been placed among the top assessed luxury accommodation properties in the country in the latest Qualmark facility assessment process.

Qualmark is the independent quality control assessor promoted by Tourism New Zealand to improve the quality of accommodation providers and other tourism operators.

Corstorphine House has had five star rating for a number of years. Five stars are awarded to establishments scoring at least 85 percent of around 400 assessment criteria judged by Qualmark.

When judged the first time, Corstorphine House only just passed this hurdle. Two years ago the score was 89 percent. Their most recent score was 97 percent.

``We understand this places us among the top leading establishments in the country,’’ Irina Francken, the owner and manager of Corstorphine House, said today.

``This was most gratifying especially as we have just completed a significant renovation in the House.

``This achievement is also especially important for the entire team working at Corstorphine House who have worked with us for such a long time. We will now also apply for the ‘exclusive’ status to Qualmark.’’

If it obtains the exclusive status, Corstorphine House will position itself even more as a destination in its own right.

“We are convinced that having reached such a high level of quality, it will be even more appealing for visitors from the major centres in New Zealand and the Australian eastern seaboard to visit Corstorphine House for relaxation and enjoyment,’’ she said.
