New Board Members For Travel Agents Association
A new president and two new directors have been elected to the board of the Travel Agents Association of New Zealand (TAANZ).
Peter Barlow, Williment Travel Group Director, from Wellington is the new president. Mr Barlow replaces James Langton, who has stood down as president after six years in the position and 10 years on the board, Peter Barlow was re-elected to the board at the end of his first two-year term.
The new directors are Andrew Bowman and Tracy Meade. Their appointments were announced at TAANZ’s annual general meeting held in Auckland last week.
Peter Barlow acquired a shareholding in, and became a company director of Williment Travel Group in late 2004, and has 30 years of travel industry experience. His career began in 1978 at the Government Tourist Bureau and in 1987 he founded his own corporate travel management company, Barlow Associates, which later became BTI Barlow NZ, partner of the global BTI Group, which he sold in 2001.
Andrew Bowman has 22 years experience in the travel industry and started his career at Atlantic & Pacific Travel in 1984. He then joined City Travel and became General Manager and Director before it merged with Corporate Travel to become City Travel Internet. In 2001 he became General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Stars Travel and Focus Travel which merged in 2002 with Andrew becoming NZ General Manager. In 2006 he became Managing Director of First Travel Group.
Tracy Meade was appointed as Chief Executive of BTI NZ Ltd in 2004 after joining the company the previous year and was instrumental in restructuring the company. She was previously with the Swire Pacific Group in Hong Kong and before that the Asia Pacific Marketing Director of the London International Group.
The three new directors were appointed for a two-year term. The three other existing directors are:

• Ross Manson, Managing Director, ITN Travel Group
• Murray Tanner, Legal Consultant, Gullivers Pacific Group
