Telecom Brings Air New Zealand Fashion Week To The World
When the perfectly coiffed and effortlessly hip take their seats alongside New Zealand’s catwalks next week, cutting edge technology will be ensuring fashion followers from Levin to London can view the Kiwi collections.
Fashion journalists and photographers clambering for a view at Air New Zealand Fashion Week (September 18-23) will be sending their runway reviews to the world via a super fast Ethernet provided by Telecom and Mycroft Systems.
The dedicated broadband service installed in the Mycroft Media Centre is up to 80 times faster than standard broadband, specially designed for high-volume data traffic and comparable to that used by film production houses and large corporate businesses.
Telecom Head of Consumer Marketing Victoria Crone says the technology is a vital part of the event, giving the fashion media across the world almost instant access to what’s being revealed on the runway.
“As an elite sponsor of Air New Zealand Fashion Week we felt we had an opportunity to transform the venue into a communications hub by utilising and featuring our latest and greatest technology.
“It’s the first time such cutting edge technology has been used at the premier fashion event and media and delegates should definitely notice the difference.”
In addition to the Ethernet connection in the Mycroft Media Centre, Telecom has kitted out the Fashion Week Venue with phones, faxes and Internet access.
Ms Crone says as well as providing the technology, Telecom has actually project managed the process to ensure effective communications solutions.
“We tried to make this year’s event as easy as possible for all involved by doing things such as EFTPOS enabling the Telecom Contemporary Salon – which showcases emerging young talent. This will allow buyers to purchase directly from the exhibitors.”
Telecom has encapsulated their sponsorship of Air New Zealand Fashion Week as a celebration of form and function.
Ms Crone says it’s about making the communications side of everything fast and effective - but it’s also about demonstrating some stylish Telecom communications tools.
“Our stunning Samsung Blade is the official mobile phone of fashion week and is sure to be hit. We are also giving fashionistas a sneak preview of our new home video phone.”
