Cruise Australia’s East Coast on Pacific Star

Australia’s magnificent east coast has never been more accessible than on an exciting new itinerary from New Zealand, exploring the ‘West Island’ on P&O Cruises’ Pacific Star.

The voyage, which is a first for P&O Cruises, has been announced as a special addition to Pacific Star’s inaugural New Zealand summer cruise season in 2007/08.

Setting sail from Auckland on November 18, 2007, the 21-night cruise will cross the Tasman to visit nine ports; Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, the Whitsundays, Cairns, Port Douglas, Townsville and Brisbane, before returning to Auckland.

Shannon Currie, P&O Cruises’ New Zealand Manager, believes the cruise will be popular with Kiwis wanting to explore the ‘West Island’ in a hassle free way.

“This round trip New Zealand itinerary is sure to attract those keen to travel the length of Australia’s east coast without the hours of driving, searching for accommodation and map-hunting involved in visiting all these destinations by road or plane,” said Mr Currie.

The cruise will combine the best of Australia’s east coast, including 4 state capitals, with 11 relaxing days at sea, so Kiwis can enjoy the ultimate cruise experience with all the benefits of just unpacking once, reclining on a deckchair while being effortlessly transported between stunning ports.

Early bird discounts of 25 per cent make exploring Australia on this fabulous cruise even more affordable for Kiwis, with fares starting at $NZ3,705 per person complete quad-share cabin, or $NZ6,063 per person in a complete twin-share cabin* including on-board accommodation, main meals and entertainment.

These prices include domestic flights from Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Napier, Nelson, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Wellington to Auckland. For those who live a little closer, free coach transfers are available from Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga and Whangarei to Auckland.

The 35,000-ton Pacific Star carries 1350 passengers and offers four dining venues, three swimming pools, wide open decks, choice of queen or twin bed configurations in most cabins, three kids’ clubs, a fitness centre, casino, indulgent spa sanctuary and three whirlpool spas.
