SUNDAY STAR-TIMES RETAINS NATIONAL NUMBER ONE POSTION
Fairfax Media’s national Sunday titles, the Sunday Star Times and Sunday News, continue to hold the top two positions in the competitive Sunday market.
The two titles are read by 842,000 New Zealanders in a typical weekend, based on all people 10yrs+.
The Sunday Star-Times continues to claim the title of the country’s highest read Sunday newspaper, with an average of 603,000 people 10yrs+ reading the publication on any given Sunday.
That represents nearly one in five adults turning to the Sunday Star-Times for their news, analysis of the news and information on an average Sunday.
Fairfax Media’s Sunday News, the second highest read Sunday newspaper, posted a readership result of 416,000, 82,000 more readers aged 10yrs+ than its next Sunday rival.
As is the case with other mainstream media Auckland audience numbers have come under pressure. However, in combination both Fairfax Sunday newspapers now reach 268,000 or 25.6% of the Auckland market, whilst retaining its number 1 national position in the Sundays market.
