NZ Life & Leisure magazine NZ’s fastest growing lifestyle magazine – latest audited circulation figures
NZ Life & Leisure has been confirmed today as New Zealand’s fastest-growing lifestyle magazine, according to the latest NZ Audit Bureau of Circulation figure.
NZ Life & Leisure’s circulation has rocketed 28 percent in six months, the Audit Bureau figures showed.
``After winning Lifestyle Magazine of the Year, Designer of the Year and being a Qantas Newsstand Magazine of the Year finalist in our first few months, this is the perfect circulation result for us,’’ NZ Life & and Leisure,” editor Kate Coughlan said today.
``We are the newest title on the block and we have blitzed the market with growth. It shows that readers love what we are doing and buying the magazine in rapidly increasing numbers.’’
Coughlan said that the New Zealand magazine market was the most competitive in the world and that launching a new title was a high-risk business.
``This is especially true of an expensive magazine to produce like NZ Life & Leisure. But my belief is that New Zealand readers always respond to quality. They were looking for a step-up in their lifestyle magazine offerings and that is what we are giving them.”
The audit just released shows NZ Life & Leisure circulation is 18,832 per issue, up from 14,526 previously and that substantial growth is against a declining trend in most magazines with some mature titles in serious decline.
The magazine market is showing minimal growth flat overall and decline in with growth coming at the expense of older, more established titles.
NZ Life & Leisure’s growth shows publishers need to be more in tune with their readers than ever before.
Teen magazines have done better than the rest of the market – maybe a trend to watch. The food category also continues to grow with several new titles competing with established market leaders such as Cuisine for sales.
Food continues to grow but only at the expense of the established leader, Cuisine.
The home title category is flat-lining looking a bit sad with some titles showing significant declines. This home category includes such titles as NZ House & Garden, Your Home & Garden and Home & Entertainment all showing serious decline.
