Flagship Fairfax Magazine Titles Retain Top Positions In Latest Audit
The latest Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) results show Fairfax Magazines, Cuisine, NZ House & Garden, NZ Gardener and The TV Guide, holding the lead position in each of their categories.
Each of Fairfax Magazines independently audited titles reflect the increasingly competitive market conditions experienced by the magazine sector as whole.
Fairfax Magazines General Manager Lynley Belton says that price increases across the sector and an influx of new entry titles have impacted on the magazine market.
"To highlight this changing environment, the last 12 months have seen more than 225,000 additional food and wine magazines sold in supermarkets alone. Despite this, Cuisine remains the leader in the highly competitive food magazine category, and continues as the country's foremost food and wine authority.
"The home category continues to be led by NZ House & Garden, and our commitment is to drive this category through cross media opportunities such as magazines, television and online.
"It's also exciting to see the impact of new editor Lynda Hallinan for NZ Gardener. Since her appointment as editor, sales have tracked above those of the same period last year.
"Finally, The TV Guide continues to be the country's number one selling magazine, and the independent audit shows stable growth as it maintains this position," says Lynley.
