On the road to easier cruising

Cruise holidays for Kiwis living outside Auckland are set to become even easier with the announcement of P&O Cruises’ Coach/Cruise transfer programme in 2007.

Working with Scenic Tours NZ Ltd, P&O Cruises will offer cruise passengers transfers from selected North Island cities to connect with Pacific Star departures from Auckland next winter.

Return transfers will be available from Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga and Whangarei on the day of departure and arrival of New Zealand’s cruise liner, Pacific Star.

P&O Cruises New Zealand Manager Shannon Currie says the new programme will open up the cruising market to an even greater number of Kiwis.

“Come 2007, we’ve got more cruises out of New Zealand than ever before and the new coach transfer programme makes it easier for more New Zealanders to enjoy cruising,” Mr Currie says.

P&O Cruises’ 2007/2008 New Zealand programme includes 71 calls at 13 different ports in five different countries. Destinations include exotic Mystery Island in Vanuatu and the ever-popular Fiji islands.

The 35,000-tonne Pacific Star features four dining venues, three swimming pools, spacious decks and a choice of queen or twin bed configurations in most cabins.

Pacific Star also provides its 1,350 passengers with a huge range of entertainment and on-board facilities including six bars and lounges, open air spas, a jogging track, Lotus Spa, extensive open decks, show-lounge, a casino and kids’ clubs.

All main meals and on-board entertainment are included in the one low fare and once aboard ship you only need to unpack once, leaving more time for relaxation.

Bookings for P&O Cruises and coach transfers can be made live via www.polar-online.co.nz. Polar Online features real-time availability and pricing plus occasional selected discount specials. Agencies simply register via the website for approved access.
