Kiwis are making the most of Air New Zealand’s new online domestic campaign with more than 4000 heavily discounted fares, some as low as $29 per sector, snapped up in the last few days.

grabaseat, an online campaign which began on Monday (July 17), sees a range of ludicrously low domestic fares posted daily on the Air New Zealand website. Fare specials from any of Air New Zealand’s 26 domestic ports will be priced below the airline’s every day low fare pricing structure.

“We want people to enjoy a little spontaneity and see more of this great country we live in. Whether it’s a visit to your parents’ place, a romantic weekend away or a shopping spree in another city, the ludicrously low fares will make impromptu getaways a reality for those keen to hunt them out,” says Air New Zealand Group General Manager Short Haul Airlines Norm Thompson.

The airline launched the campaign by notifying its customer database first as well as encouraging staff to tell their friends and family about the super hot deals.

“We wanted to tell our loyal customers about the sale first but the tickets are available to anybody wanting to travel domestically in New Zealand. There’s no doubt these fares are ludicrously low and the key to getting the best deals will be to check the site daily.”

Today (Friday) anyone living in Christchurch, Wellington, Napier, Auckland, Tauranga and Blenheim will benefit from greatly reduced fares.

“One of the great features of grabaseat is that once online, customers will be able to view a seat countdown (in real time) for each route – so they instantly know if special fares are still available,” says Mr Thompson.

grabaseat fares are only available online at www.airnewzealand.co.nz/grabaseat and as different routes will be offered each day customers will need to visit the site regularly to seek their desired fares. Travel periods will vary but most will begin three to six weeks out from the booking date, allowing people time to plan their mini-break or family visit.

“Air New Zealand is committed to making domestic travel more accessible to all New Zealanders and we hope people take this opportunity to see more of their own backyard,” says Mr Thompson.
