CallPlus Wins Auckland WiMax Spectrum

MEDIA RELEASE

CallPlus Wins Auckland WiMax Spectrum

CallPlus delighted to be confirmed as the provisionally successful applicant for the crown retained 3.5GHz spectrum auctioned regionally

New Zealand, Auckland – Monday 3 July, 2006 - CallPlus, New Zealand’s largest 100% kiwi owned full service telecommunications company, has won spectrum covering the Auckland area including Manukau, Auckland City, North Shore, Waitakere and Rodney. This gives CallPlus access to 3.5GHz spectrum from Auckland to the top of the North Island.

Malcolm Dick, Co-Founder of CallPlus said “Gaining access to spectrum in the 3.5GHz band is critical to our plans for deployment of WiMax wireless technology as it is a world wide standard, and equipment is now available in this frequency band.”

We are extremely pleased with the results of our WiMax trial in Kiakohe, Whangarei and Gulf Harbour. CallPlus has progressed its plans for a roll out of voice and broadband services based on the WiMax wireless technology, however we are keeping details ‘under wraps’ for now.”
