Chamber Welcomes State Highway
Forecasts
The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce
has welcomed the allocation given to Wellington in Transit
New Zealand’s State Highway forecasts released today. This
includes the priority given to the investigation and design
of the Transmission Gully Motorway.
“The package makes it possible for the region to make major advances towards solving its transportation bottlenecks,” said Charles Finny, the Chamber’s Chief Executive Officer.
“The $80 million allocation for geotechnical analysis, and final design and consent work on Transmission Gully is positive. The programme envisages the work beginning as early as October this year.
“We are also pleased to see essential work on SH2 as part of the package, including work on improving the Rimutaka Hill road.
“Good roading infrastructure is a vital ingredient for a healthy business sector and is crucial to the on-going development of the Wellington region,” Charles Finny concluded.
