ANZAwards celebrate Wellington’s Export Champions

ANZ Export Awards celebrate Wellington’s Export Champions

Outstanding businesses from the Wellington region were celebrated at the ANZ Wellington Export Awards gala dinner, attended by 300 guests last Thursday night at Te Papa. The region extends from Gisborne/Napier across to New Plymouth and all areas through Wellington, down to and including Nelson/Marlborough. New Zealand Trade and Enterprise was a key sponsor of these Awards.

Winners were recognised for their contribution to New Zealand’s export success through factors such as innovation and foreign exchange growth.

“This year’s winners are clearly leaders in their fields", says ANZ CEO, Graham Hodges. “An encouraging outcome of winning an award like this is that businesses get the confidence to set higher goals, which has far-reaching benefits for the business, the economy and New Zealand exports. It’s always a privilege to work with dynamic companies who can visualise their ambitions and the means of achieving them".

Finalists in the two award categories included a furniture designer and manufacturer, a supplier of innovative fuel dispensing products, a producer of gourmet food products, and a company that produces a series of books about smart animals.

Export New Zealand Wellington President Colin Carr commented, “We were very pleased with the level of interest in these Awards. The number of entries and the diversity of these businesses is testimony to the amount of exporting done in the greater Wellington area, not only by manufacturing exporters, but also by exporters of services”.
