Power outages due to snow
Update 4.00 p.m., Wednesday 14 June 2006
Approximately 2000 customers remain without power tonight within the Orion network region, down from the 3000 without power last night. Earlier in the week priority was placed on power supplies to water and sewerage pumps while emphasis today was on repairing supplies to telephone exchanges and cell sites.
Orion has 20 crews at work and power is expected to be progressively restored to the remaining areas as follows:
Thursday 15 June; Darfield, Highfield, Springfield, Leeston, Annat, Southbridge, Hills, Brookside, Killinchy areas
Friday 16 June; Hororata, Greendale, Bankside areas
Weekend; along the North bank of the Rakaia River, including Te Pirita.
Next week; some high country properties (e.g. West of Sheffield).
This schedule remains an estimate as the supply to some customers may be subject to multiple faults and therefore the supply make take longer to restore.
For further information, refer to the map of affected areas on www.oriongroup.co.nz
