Dogs' Breakfast And Bark Up Protest

Dogs'Breakfast And Bark Up Protest at Micro Chipping

Media are invited to attend a giant dog’s breakfast to protest against the micro chipping of dogs.

The event, organised by Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc) and the New Zealand Sheep Dog Trial Association, will be held alongside the National Sheep Dog Trials on Friday, June 2, in Omarama, in the Waitaki Valley.

Hundreds of huntaways will stage a bark up in protest at compulsory micro chipping. The event is being held prior to the huntaway finals.

MPs, Mayors and dog owners have been invited to attend the event.

The Federation will be represented by Charlie Pedersen, President of Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc).

When: 10.30 am, June 2.

Where: The dog’s breakfast and bark up will be held at the sale yards one kilometre out of town on the Omarama - Aviemore Road.

From July 2006 all dogs first registered must be implanted with a microchip. Federated Farmers is against micro chipping because it will not stop dog attacks and instead add costs to dog owners for no reason.
