Easing Business Compliance Burden Will Help Economy….

The urgency of the review of business regulations proposed by Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel is a welcome sign that Government recognizes that compliance costs are holding back business and the economy, said Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief executive Michael Barnett.

Welcoming the Regulatory Framework’s Review, Mr Barnett said that untangling the proliferation of regulation and red tape web that business is forced to comply with is vital for improving investment and productivity.

“Bad regulation creates uncertainty, stifles innovation and is costly in time and money.”

It is also encouraging that the Minister wants the review fast tracked. At the end of the day, however, the review will only be as good and successful as the action that quickly follows, concluded Mr Barnett.
