Now It’s Up to Transit to Get the Job Done
At last – completion by 2014 of the Western Ring Route is no longer a pipedream.
The Government commitment to a fully funded 5 year programme will allow most of the route to be completed by 2011 – before the Rugby World Cup.
This is exactly the package the business community has been requesting for some time, said Michael Barnett, Chief Executive, Auckland Chamber of Commerce.
It’s now over to Transit. With the support of the contracting industry already guaranteed, Transit should now set up a rapid response team to work around the clock to get the job done.
Mr Barnett strongly expected that Transit’s announcement tomorrow on the key deliverables will reinforce its commitment to finish the Western Ring Route and other key Auckland projects by 2014, or on today’s news, earlier.
