SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Appoints New General Manager
SKYCITY Queenstown Casino is pleased to announce the appointment of a new General Manager, Mary Whelan.
Although Mary only arrived in Queenstown on Sunday 7 May, she visited previously in 2004. She says that her first impression of Queenstown has been the friendliness of the people.
“Although I’d heard so much about Queenstown I was still surprised at how beautiful the surroundings were and how cosmopolitan the town felt. It really reminds me of my native Scotland – although there’s no Louis Vuitton in the Highlands!” says Mary.
“There’s a really strong feeling of community. And it’s a community I’m looking forward to being a part of."
Mary commenced her career in the gaming industry in her home land of Scotland and since then has worked in senior positions in many Australian casinos.
She began her SKYCITY career in Adelaide as VIP Services Manager from February to October 2004. From August 2005 Mary was the Business Manager for the International Business team in Melbourne where she established a SKYCITY office.
“SKYCITY Queenstown Casino is a unique, fun and friendly boutique casino and I’m looking forward to being a part of it. With live entertainment six nights per week, and the poker tournaments which are running at the moment, it’s an exciting place to be."
